I got this recipe from this blog. I’m not normally a huge cake person, but I had to make it when I saw the recipe. It’s really good, and I ate way too much!
1 box devil’s food cake mix
1 box instant chocolate pudding
1 c water
1/2 c canola oil
1 pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
Combine all ingredients and bake according to package directions in 2 round 9-inch pans.
1 pkg light cream cheese, softened
1 stick butter, softened
2 c powdered sugar
3 packets (about 1/4 c) hot chocolate powder
Beat all ingredients until smooth. Allow cake to cool completely and frost.
I was in a rush when I made this so I forgot the chocolate chips, and it was still heavenly. I didn’t have any chocolate pudding, so I used vanilla and added 3 T cocoa powder.
Next time I might add a cup of sour cream to the cake and another packet of hot chocolate or some cocoa powder to the frosting.
