I saw this recipe in the newspaper in a Rhodes dough ad. I wasn’t sure how Hubby would feel about this pizza, but I really wanted to use the rest of my homemade mozzarella cheese for something fun. I had to grab this out of the oven and then run to a meeting (without time to even taste it), so I was a little nervous to ask him how it was. I was a bit relieved when he said it was great!
1 recipe pizza dough
2 T butter
1/2 garlic powder
1 t dried parsley flakes
1/4 c parmesan cheese
14 oz can artichoke hearts, chopped
3/4 c grated mozzarella cheese
1/2 c grated havarti cheese
1/2 c grated provolone cheese
fresh cracked black pepper
Combine softened butter, garlic powder and parsley flakes. Spread over crust. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and artichoke hearts. Cover with grated cheeses and sprinkle with pepper. Bake on a pizza stone at 425 for about 15 minutes, or until cheese is nicely melted.
*The fun idea in the paper was to use 9 dinner rolls to make it a pull-apart pizza. Flatten each to make a 3-inch cirlce. Place one in the center of a sprayed 12-inch pizza pan. Place remaining rolls in a circle around center one, overlapping each about 1/2 inch.
*If you don’t have a pizza stone, bake the dough at 375 for 10 minutes before adding toppings. Then bake an additional 10-15 minutes at 375.
*I went into autopilot, which is why I baked mine at 425. It browned the cheese, which is fine with us, but I don’t think that’s really the idea.
